چکیده

There is an immense healthcare challenge and financial pressure due to the COVID-19 pandemic caused by a newly identified human coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2. Effective prevention efforts in healthcare, home, community settings highlight need for rapid, efficient, no-contact SARS-CoV-2 inactivation strategies. Here, we examined photocatalytic virucidal activity of MACOMA™ TiO2 film activated UVA-LED-12V-367 nm (MA-717836-1) lamp against HCoV-OC43, member beta coronaviruses family, like SARS-CoV-2, using quantitative RT-qPCR virus infectivity assays. The UVA radiation-responsive accelerated (decreased viral titer) compared uncoated glass surface when placed at vertical distance 1.2 feet (~14 inches) from samples 10, 30, 60 min. UVA-LED exposure both 10 30 min effectively reduced RNA copies infectious on TiO2-coated surfaces control surfaces. Importantly, completely eliminated HCoV-OC43. These results confirmed that UVA/TiO2-based disinfection system provides rapid complete tested coronavirus human-safe manner has great potential limiting spread poorly ventilated as well high-traffic public places.

Photocatalytic Disinfection of Coliform Bacteria Using UV/TiO2.

BACKGROUND There are great interests in photocatalytic oxidation of contaminants using titanium dioxide in recent years. The main objective of this research was to study photocatalytic disinfection of Coliform bacteria as water microbial pollution index using TiO2 and a low pressure UV lamp in a batch reactor. METHODS The polluted water was prepared by adding a colony of Coliform in raw water...

Inactivation of Fecal coliforms during solar and photocatalytic disinfection by zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles in compound parabolic concentrators (CPCs)

Water samples of 0, 50, and 100 nephelometric turbidity units (NTU) spiked with fecal coliforms (107 CFU/ml) were exposed to natural sunshine in 1l quartz glass tubes fitted with rectors’ compound parabolic concentrators CPCS at two forms CPC1 (whit nanoparticle zinc oxide) and CPC2(without nanoparticle zinc oxide). The samples were characterized using the X-ray...

Enhancing the Photocatalytic Activity of Nano Nd-TiO2@SiO2 by coupled systems

Metal doped TiO2 catalysts were synthesized by sol-gel method and their activities were determined for degradation of methyl orang as a pollutant. Nd-doped TiO2 showed the maximum activity comparing with others. Colloidal SiO2 was used as a support to increase the surface area and also the activity. Nano-TiO2/SiO2/Nd was synthesized by sol-gel method and it was characterized using XRD, XRF, SEM...

Photocatalytic inactivation of Clostridium perfringens spores on TiO2 electrodes

Disinfection of drinking water is commonly carried out by chlorination, however research has shown this method to be ineffective against certain rotozoan, viral and biofilm forming microorganisms. Furthermore, chlorination can result in the formation of mutagenic disinfection by-products. emiconductor photocatalysis may be a possible alternative to chlorination for point-of-use drinking water d...

Photocatalytic inactivation of E. coli in surface water using immobilised nanoparticle TiO2 films.

Photocatalysis is a promising method for the disinfection of potable water in developing countries where solar irradiation can be employed, thus reducing the cost of treatment. In addition to microbial contamination, water normally contains suspended solids, dissolved inorganic ions and organic compounds (mainly humic substances) which may affect the efficacy of solar photocatalysis. In this wo...
